Pitch Competitions

This is a great way to get your team involved at the event without much prep in advance. There will be three pitch competitions at the Enactus Canada National Exposition this year, and all teams are welcome to participate in any or all of them.

DESIGN FOR DELIGHT WORKSHOP – REGISTER NOW!

Join Enactus Canada and Intuit Inc. on Saturday, May 8th from 1-3pm ET for an in-depth immersion in Design for Delight, Intuit’s secret weapon for problem-solving, innovation and entrepreneurship. Intuit will provide activities on the three pillars of Design for Delight – Deep Customer Empathy, Go Broad to Go Narrow and Rapid Experimentation with Customers to help you nail your big idea! This two-hour workshop will help spark your innovation and thinking for all three of the pitch competitions, so you won’t want to miss it!

PROJECT IDEA PITCHES: FAQ

Enactus teams are allowed to submit as many Project Idea Pitches per category as they like. Use 1 pitch template per project idea.

1-page; teams must use the templates provided above.

Finalists will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on May 14.

Finalists will pitch live Thursday, May 19 at 10:30am Eastern.

3 minutes followed by a 5-minute live Q&A with judges.

All Regional Finalists must prepare 1 static 16×9 powerpoint slide to share during their pitch; no audio / video materials.

The results of the Project Idea Pitch Final Rounds of Competition will be announced at the Final Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 20.

French-speaking teams will be expected to pitch their idea in English but will be offered a translator for their Q&A. Q&A time will be doubled for French teams.

KEY DATES

  • Friday, May 7: Launch of Pitch Competitions. An email will be sent to all students this day with the pitch competitions topics and details. They will also be launched simultaneously on our website and social media.
  • Saturday, May 8, 1-3pm ET: Intuit Design for Delight Workshop
  • Wednesday, May 12, 11:59pm ET: Pitch Competition Submissions Due
  • Friday, May 14, 3pm ET: Awards Ceremony – 6 Finalists announced for each of the Pitch Competitions
  • Wednesday, May 19, 9:30am-12:30pm ET: Pitch Competition Final Rounds of Competitions (streamed live at nationals.enactus.ca)
  • Thursday, May 20, 3pm ET: Pitch Competition Results Announced at Awards Ceremony

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & NEXT STEPS

  • Enactus students and teams are allowed and encouraged to submit multiple pitches (use 1 template per pitch)
  • Submit your pitch using the 1-page submission templates located on nationals.enactus.ca/idea-pitches
    • Do NOT modify the pitch template in any way
    • Identify 1 Enactus student to submit and be the main point of contact for your Pitch (this person will be sent all competition information if you are named a National Finalist)
    • Please save your pitch as a PDF before submitting it to Enactus for judging
    • Your PDF submission cannot exceed 100MB in size
    • Name your file using the following naming convention: “PitchName-IdeaName-School”, for example, “Unilever-SmartUp-AcadiaUniversity”. The 3 Pitch names are: Intuit/The Co-operators/Unilever. If you are submitting a Unilever pitch with students from various schools, name the file as “Unilever-IdeaName-Collaboration”
  • Pitches are due Wednesday, May 12 at 11:59PM EST via nationals.enactus.ca/idea-pitches

PITCH COMPETITION NATIONAL FINALISTS & LIVE PITCH PLAN

  • 6 finalists will be announced for each of the 3 Pitch Competitions, live during the Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 14, at 3PM EST at nationals.enactus.ca
  • All 6 Finalists for each Pitch Competition must be available Wednesday, May 19 between 9:30am ET and 12:30pm ET to present a live 3-minute pitch and participate in a 5-minute live Q&A via Zoom to a panel of judges who will select the Best Ideas
    • Detailed information, including Zoom links and timeslots will be sent to all 6 finalists in each Pitch Competition by their Enactus Program Manager on Friday, May 14, following the Awards Ceremony
  • Up to 5 students are invited to participate in the Live Pitch event on Wednesday, May 19. Pitches will be broadcast live to nationals.enactus.ca.
    • All participating team members must have access to Internet, Zoom and a working webcam / microphone (headphones are encouraged)
    • Enactus Faculty members are not permitted to participate in the live pitch / Q&A
    • Finalists must prepare 1 PPT slide (16×9 format) with static content (no videos or sound allowed) as a JPEG to be shared during their live 3-minute pitch
  • Best Idea, Runner Up and Second Runner Up recipients will be announced during the Enactus Nationals Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 20 at 3pm ET.

NOTE: For the Unilever Pitch Competition, the Prize Money will be split up as scholarships for the students on a team.

Impact through Innovation Award

All teams that submit a pitch in all three pitch competitions and participate in the Enactus National Competition are eligible for an Impact through Innovation Award to recognize your team’s commitment to having impact and driving innovation through different competitions and channels.
